Boiler Room is a caution to the "Mums and Dads" of the manipulation and the hype which can cause them to make an on the spur of the moment investment mistake.
The Boiler Room itself is the office run by a supposedly prestigious firm - J.T. Marlin, whom offer stock in a non-existent stock, through a series of cold callers on their payroll.
Boiler Room is a little reminicent in sections of "Wall Street". In fact half way through the movie, the characters themselves watch a scene from "Wall Street" and each take it in turns to mock lines.
